Let's just say the past few weeks have been eventful, to say the least. For one thing, the USC elections, (results of which were posted just a while ago), took place. Another set of things that happened were the lessons in Physics 10. They just kept coming. And each of them were interesting in their own way.
Let's start sa naunang series: Astronomy. If only there was a way to quantify how cool it was to see different constellations, and the beauty of God's stellar creation. Ang astig. I was, like, wow. And the thing is, I could see the stars from the comfort of my own home, using a software called Stellarium (found here: http://www.stellarium.org). Nothing beats looking at the stars outside, though. Lalo na ngayong may alignment of plantes.
Then, there was Magnetism. Here, if there was anything I learned, it was that magnetism is the basis of the storage of the very computer I'm using to type this blog.
After that, ang nagsalita, si Chancellor Saloma. He talked about the economy, science, and technology. It's all for the Philippines. I am more convinced than ever that we could be great - kelangan lang natin ng budget. Eh budget cut ng budget cut. >.< Sayang. See, saan napupunta ang perang pumapasok sa UP? Sa research, among other things. Research spurs technology. And technology is what keeps the economy afloat. Thus, we need a higher state subsidy in order to improve our economy. Which will bring in more money to improve our research, etc, etc. (And this is why we all have to fight for higher state subsidy. And try to earn more money to improve research.)
And after that, the lesson was about holography. Akala ko nung una, yung hologram yung image na nagfoform. Reconstruction lang pala yun. The hologram is the film or glass which contains the reconstruction. Napapaisip ako ngayon: "How hard can it be to make my own holograms?" All I need is a laser and some holographic film. And a way to stabilize the setup. It was cool to see real holograms, and reconstructions made out of holograms. And to see the Holo Knights in action. Siguro magiging Holo Knight din yung nagturo sa amin nito, na si Dr. Almoro.
Closing the Physics 10 series, masasabi ko lang, na napakacool nitong subject na ito. Walang dull moments. That is why never akong umaabsent sa class na ito. :)
