Let's just say the past few weeks have been eventful, to say the least. For one thing, the USC elections, (results of which were posted just a while ago), took place. Another set of things that happened were the lessons in Physics 10. They just kept coming. And each of them were interesting in their own way.
Let's start sa naunang series: Astronomy. If only there was a way to quantify how cool it was to see different constellations, and the beauty of God's stellar creation. Ang astig. I was, like, wow. And the thing is, I could see the stars from the comfort of my own home, using a software called Stellarium (found here: http://www.stellarium.org). Nothing beats looking at the stars outside, though. Lalo na ngayong may alignment of plantes.
Then, there was Magnetism. Here, if there was anything I learned, it was that magnetism is the basis of the storage of the very computer I'm using to type this blog.
After that, ang nagsalita, si Chancellor Saloma. He talked about the economy, science, and technology. It's all for the Philippines. I am more convinced than ever that we could be great - kelangan lang natin ng budget. Eh budget cut ng budget cut. >.< Sayang. See, saan napupunta ang perang pumapasok sa UP? Sa research, among other things. Research spurs technology. And technology is what keeps the economy afloat. Thus, we need a higher state subsidy in order to improve our economy. Which will bring in more money to improve our research, etc, etc. (And this is why we all have to fight for higher state subsidy. And try to earn more money to improve research.)
And after that, the lesson was about holography. The hologram is the film or glass which contains the reconstruction. Napapaisip ako ngayon: "How hard can it be to make my own holograms?" All I need is a laser and some holographic film. And a way to stabilize the setup. It was cool to see real holograms, and reconstructions made out of holograms. And to see the Holo Knights in action.
Walang dull moments. That is why never akong umaabsent sa class na ito. :)

Bogart the Explorer from Davao City
Basically, yang si Bogart the Explorer, pekeng Ostralyano, taga Down Under daw kasi (actually Davao nga.)
Super nakakatuwa ang video. Bumisita ba naman sa UP ito. Lolz. ^^

Complexity Theory. Ganito din kaya sa love?
After a long-ish break, nagkaclass uli sa Physics 10. Awesome! :) The lecture was on Complexity Theory, and the lecturer was Dr. Rene Batac. Magaling din magturo ah. :P So anyway, ayon. It isn't everyday you see a science touching on many other sciences; this one has roots in physics, tapos mukhang maraming statistics involved, and it's branched out to biology, psychology, the social sciences.
Ang ganda ng examples. Think of ants, who walk around without a leader, but are capable of doing complex interactions. Or of people who think for themselves, but as a group, something really good happens.
Or of complex social interactions. Yung tipong nangyayari sa Friendster (does anyone still remember this?), it also has roots in complexity theory. :) Napa-wow ako. WOW LANG TALAGA. :)
In other news, Pebrero na naman. Again. Lagi na lang. So eto wishlist ko this valentines.
(Stat 149, i'm looking at you...)
3. I want chocolates. Kahit ano, basta matamis na chocolates. Plus points if it comes from PEERS, or from yung minemention ko sa number 1. Simpleng "happy valentines" from close friends will also do. :)
4. Sana, kahit sabihin nating beginning of the end ng pagaaral ko sa kolehiyo, masaya pa rin ang pagaaral ko.
Come to think of it, hindi ba complex system ang pagmamahal? I wonder if it has rules, like a complex system, na susundan mo lang, magkakaroon ka ng isang magandang relationship. Naks. :))

Banahaw, revisited.
Magagaling kami eh. Masasaya pa. :D This time may sarili kaming pix, pero, nasa camera ng mga kagrupo ko (nagdala ako ng maliit na cam, pero nalobat kaagad. fail lang. :|)
Buti may kagrupo kaming taga-Varsity Swimming Team ng UP (Hi Kate!)
Like this oh (photo from http://www.texaninthephilippines.com:)
I remember a few other things, pero that's for another time. Eto lang masasabi ko in the end: Rizalismo: more fun in the Philippines. Mountain-climbing: more fun in the Philippines. Cliff-diving: more fun in the Philippines. Commuting on top of a jeep: More fun in the Philippines. Talagang it's more fun in the Philippines.
Comet's Revival
Last time na nagpost ako dito, freshie pa lang ako.
Ayon. Natuloy naman ako sa sinasalihan kong org: ang UP DOST Scholars' Association, o SA for short. Nadagdagan pa ng dalawa: CSSP PEERS volunteer group, kung saan volunteer ako, and UP Campus Crusade for Christ (CCC). Meron pang isa eh. UP Achievers in Mission (church group, aka AIM). So active ako pagdating sa orgs. Dalawang religious (Kristiyano ako, for the record), isang acad, at isang volunteer.
Noong nagsimula akong magblog, takot akong mapahiya. Ngayon, pakapalan na lang ng mukha. :))
As for my studies, siguro, maraming ups and downs. May nangyaring mabuti, meron ding masama. Nagkabagsak ako sa isang subject, pero niretake ko, kaya on time pa rin ako gagraduate (if i pass everything I take this sem.)
So bakit ako bumalik?
We were supposed to make a blog about physics, the Philippines, the economy, anything. Instead of making a new blog, why not reuse an old one? At least I save bandwidth or server space or something. :)
Inaasahan kong isulat dito: stuff about life in general, science, tapos stuff about the Philippines. Expect more blog posts in the next week, as I post about anything from personal stuff to science to pagiging (mabuting) Pinoy to my love for God, and His love for us.
